How do I sign up to help at Highland Friendship Club events?
That's easy! Check out the schedule to learn about the Highland Friendship Club and some of our upcoming events. Then, go to the Volunteer Sign-Up form and let us know how you'd like to get involved. Or, you can send us an email at info@highlandfriendshipclub.org or give us a call at 651-698-4096.
How old do you have to be to volunteer?
Most of our volunteers are in high school or older.
Do I have to have any special training?
No. All you need is an interest in working with people with disabilities, respect for everyone's individual abilities, gifts and talents, enthusiasm and a sense of humor. Highland Friendship Club has four paid staff members who are trained to work with people with disabilities. They will make sure you're comfortable with your volunteer role and help you when necessary.
If I sign-up to help at an event, will there be other volunteers?
Yes. One of the nice things about the Highland Friendship Club is that we always have lots of volunteers and everyone works together. You'll meet a lot of great people. The event coordinator will tell you exactly what to do and who to turn to for help before an event begins. In many cases, you'll be working alongside our members at an event or service activity.
I have a special skill/interest that I'd like to share with the Highland Friendship Club. Who should I contact?
Hooray! We'd love to hear from you. You can email the Highland Friendship Club at info@highlandfriendshipclub.org or call 651-698-4096. As a nonprofit, we depend on gifts from our friends to help our members flourish in an adult world.
My organization needs volunteers for a special community service project. I heard that the Highland Friendship Club often does service projects. Who should I talk to about a possible partnership?
You heard right! The Highland Friendship Club is dedicated to helping others in our community through service projects. If you have ideas for service projects that our members can be part of, contact Mary McKeown at 651-698-4096 or email her at mary@highlandfriendshipclub.org
